Bleaching
A chrystal white smile is your personal business card. It resembles your health, hygiene, success and integrity.
But how do you actually whiten your teeth and how do you determine to what degree?
Bleaching really means "Whitening"
and has been a result of the well known problems as stains caused by a variety of nutrition, tobacco or alcohol products, especially tea , red wine and coffee. Therefore coloring your teeth darker and giving it that "used up" look.
Modern dentistry is constantly striving after the perfect white smile. Meanwhile there are different treatments available.
Normally the bleaching of teeth will take in between 60 to 90 minutes. There are two ways to be distinguished: "Power Bleaching" and "Home Bleaching".
First of all the teeth will be thoroughly cleansed, stains and marks removed. The use of a cheek expander allows the dentist for easy access to the teeth. In addition the patient will receive a thin layer of protective tissue for gum safety. Finally the bleaching gel (without waterperoxide) will be applied to the teeth. A plasma lamp activates the gel and intensifies the process (power bleaching).
By employing several bleaching cycles, the gel will be removed, a fresh solution applied and placed once again under the lamp. The number of cycles depends on the coloration desired and staining of teeth. Some patients might feel a sensitivity (as hot and cold), but this side effect will disappear within a 24 hour period. Even single, not lively teeth can be whitened.
The beaching of teeth is a cosmetic treatment, which insurance carriers generally do not reimburse.
In case of "home bleaching " the dental laboratory will manufacture a bite tray which will hold the specially formulated home bleaching gel. By wearing this tray at night the patient has the ability to monitor its outcome. This procedure might take several weeks since the concentration of the home bleaching gel is lower than the power whitening gel. There are a variety of different systems available.
You individual bleaching procedure can be discussed with your dentist of trust in the Zahnklinik Essen.
